Kindava

Someone to talk to.

Kindava sits in your home and holds a conversation. It remembers what you told it last week, and asks how it went.

Tuesday

How did the appointment go?

Not bad. Longer wait than I thought.

They usually are. Did you get a chance to ask about your knee?

Today

Morning. You said your daughter was visiting this weekend — is she still coming?

Most days, nobody asks.

A third of American adults between fifty and eighty say they lack companionship, and close to a third say they feel isolated. For many veterans and first responders, that comes with things which are hard to say out loud to the people who know them.

Among veterans it is worse. In a national study of more than four thousand, fifty-seven per cent said they feel lonely at least sometimes, and one in five said they feel it often.

Kindava is not a replacement for any of that. It is not as good as a friend, a family member, or a clinician, and it does not pretend to be. But the honest alternative, for a lot of people on a lot of days, is silence — and something that asks how you slept and remembers the answer is better than silence.

How it works

1

Say its name

It listens for that and nothing else. Until it hears it, nothing is recorded and nothing leaves the room.

2

Talk

It answers out loud, in a voice you pick. No screens to navigate, no apps to learn, no buttons to find.

3

It remembers

Next time, it knows what you told it. That is the part that makes it feel like somebody rather than something.

There is a phone app as well, so the same conversation carries on when you are out. You can talk to it or type, whichever suits where you are.

What Kindava is not

Not a therapist Not a medical device Not a diagnostic tool Not a crisis service

It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care. We say this plainly and in the same size type as everything else, because the companies that bury it are the ones you should worry about.

What you say stays yours

A companion you cannot be honest with is not a companion.

Nobody else can read it

Not family you share the device with — they see only that it is working and roughly when it was last used. Not our support staff, on any screen. That is enforced by the system, not by politeness.

Never sold, never advertised against

No adverts, no data brokers, no profile built for anybody's benefit but yours. Kindava learns about you so it can talk to you, and that is where it ends.

Erase it in thirty seconds

Everything: the conversations, the summary, all of it. From the app or from this website, without asking us and without waiting.

Written down, in plain words

The privacy policy and the health data policy say exactly what is collected and who sees it — including the things we cannot yet claim.

Who it is for

Veterans. First responders. People living alone who can go days without speaking to anybody. People whose families are far away, or gone, or who never had much of one.

It was built by a veteran, for people he knows. More about that.
